After completing his spring tour with The Dead, Bob Weir's Ratdog [ tickets ] will embark on a string of summer dates, some of them solo, some alongside indie-folk rocker Jackie Greene [ tickets ] and fellow jam band moe.

The stateside trek begins July 8 in Glen Allen, VA, traveling to amphitheaters along both coasts through early September. The scheduled roadwork also includes two dates in Colorado: Aug. 30 in Boulder and Aug. 31 in Denver. Details are below.

The jam band, helmed since its 1995 inception by former Grateful Dead co-founder/guitarist Weir, has only one studio album, 2000's "Evening Moods." The group--currently comprised of Weir, drummer Jay Lane, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, guitarist Mark Karan, saxophonist Kenny Brooks and bassist Robin Sylvester--performs an array of Dead songs, original work and covers.

Since 2003, the band has recorded each performance and released it as part of a live-CD series, available for purchase right after the gigs. Some appearances are also available in downloadable formats at the group's website.

Americana rocker Jackie Greene will open the last half of the summer run in support of last spring's "Giving Up the Ghost," while indie-jam rockers moe., who are currently promoting their eighth studio album, "Sticks and Stones," are slated to play three July shows with Ratdog.

The surviving members of the Grateful Dead currently are on the road as The Dead for the first time in five years. That outing concludes May 16 in George, WA.
