Robin Williams returns to 'Self Destruction' trek
Robin Williams will return to the stage this fall after postponing several shows in March to undergo heart surgery.
The veteran comedian will continue his "Weapons of Self Destruction" tour Sept. 30 in Bloomington, IN, stopping by theaters, concert halls and casinos through a two-night set in Atlantic City Thanksgiving weekend (11/27-28). Two-night stands in Hollywood, FL (10/21-22) and Washington, DC (11/20-21) are also on the books. The full schedule is below.
Williams kicked off the road trip last September, but changed his schedule when he experienced shortness of breath in Florida in early March. The 57-year-old Julliard-trained actor postponed the remainder of his 80-city trek to undergo heart surgery, which sidelined the comic for two months. Last night (5/13), during an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman," Williams joked about the aortic valve replacement and repaired second valve with David Letterman, who underwent quintuple bypass surgery in 2000.
"This little break has given me more energy than ever," Williams said at his website. "Plus it's wonderful to have a cow valve...if you don't mind the grazing, it's quite invigorating."
Williams' latest movie, "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," in which he reprises his role as Teddy Roosevelt, hits box offices May 22.
