Robin Williams [ tickets ] has added a few more dates to his "Weapons of Self-Destruction Tour," which marks his first stand-up comedy trek in six years.

The award-winning actor/comedian will hit the road beginning Sept. 25 in Minneapolis and traipse across the US and Canada through the end of the year. Since last check, he has added a second show in Detroit, a two-night stand in Seattle and a performance in Portland, OR. Multiple gigs are also booked in Chicago, Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Toronto and Boston. An updated itinerary is listed below.

The first round of tickets went on sale earlier this month and Williams' Oct. 23 Baltimore show sold out in 30 minutes, according to his website. The Oct. 2 show in West Lafayette, IN, goes on sale this weekend and tickets for the Oct. 4 Detroit performance and the late November two-night stand in Toronto will be offered up next week. Between the current political landscape and his personal battles over the last couple of years, the funnyman said now is a perfect time to roll out some new material.

"It's an election year, which is basically Christmas for stand-up comics," Williams said in a statement. "And I figured I should get my ass on the road while the Shrub is still in office. A lot has happened in the world and in my life since I last did this six years ago and there's no better thrill and no better therapy than getting on that high-wire in front of a live audience."

Williams last toured in 2002 when he returned to the stand-up scene after a 16-year hiatus and scored one of the highest-grossing comedy tours in history, according to a press release. That outing's final performance in New York City was filmed by HBO for the special "Robin Williams: Live on Broadway," which was nominated for five Emmy awards.

Speaking of Emmys, Williams recently earned another nomination for his guest spot on the NBC-TV drama "Law & Order: SVU," in which he portrayed a troubled man who turns to acts of public anarchy. A recap of the episode is streaming at his website.

Williams--who has four Golden Globes, four Grammys and an Oscar on his mantle--is also keeping busy on the big-screen front with the upcoming films "World's Greatest Dad," "Old Dogs" and "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian."
