Rodrigo y Gabriela extend fall road plans

Mexican acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have extended their US excursion this fall in support of their forthcoming second studio album, "11:11."

The pair--Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero--will follow up a previously announced slate of September shows with a second leg of dates the next month, kicking off Oct. 10 in San Diego, CA, and gradually moving eastward to an Oct. 24 conclusion in Baltimore. Details are below.

Following the US dates, the duo will head overseas for a European tour, details for which can be found at Rodrigo y Gabriela's official website.

Due in stores Sept. 8, "11:11" was recorded in Ixtapa, Mexico, and produced by Rodrigo y Gabriela themselves, with John Leckie (Radiohead, The Stone Roses) co-producing two of the tracks. The album was mixed in Wales and London by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Trivium).

The forthcoming "11:11" follows the Rodrigo y Gabriela's self-titled 2006 debut, which was produced by Leckie and features guest contributions from violinist Roby Lakatos. The new set includes guest appearances by Alex Skolnick of metal outfit Testament and classical-guitar duo Strunz & Farah.

Most noticeably influenced by folk music, Rodrigo y Gabriela also list metal acts such as Megadeth and Slayer as key influences. The two met in 2000 while playing in a thrash metal band. After moving to Europe (both now consider Dublin, Ireland, home), the pair played local clubs until graduating to the European festival circuit in 2005.
