Ruben Studdard lends his voice to sickle cell awareness
Ruben Studdard has co-written a new song, "I'm A Fighter," as the campaign anthem for Be Sickle Smart, a nationwide grassroots health-education program aimed at increasing awareness of iron overload among people living with the sickle cell disease, according to a press release.
Studdard, now the official spokesperson of BSS, also will take his message to the concert stage with a promotional tour that kicks off Sept. 19 in Memphis. The upcoming performances, called "Empowerment Days," will feature an iron-overload education presentation and free iron-overload screenings.
The season two "American Idol" winner released his fourth album, "Love IS," earlier this year. Later this month, he will release a new track from the album, "Don't Make 'Em Like U No More." Studdard also recently launched a new website, RubenStuddard.com.
Studdard's new song for the Be Sickle Smart campaign and additional information about sickle cell disease can be found at the BSS website.
