With her summer tour now fading in the rearview mirror, Shawn Colvin [ tickets ] has her sights set on a fall outing that will back her soon-to-be-released album, "These 4 Walls."

The disc, which sports a Sept. 12 street date, is Colvin's first new set since 2001's "Whole New You," and her inaugural release for Nonesuch Records. She recorded the disc in Texas and New York with producer John Leventhal. Guests who turn up on the set include singers Patty Griffin, March Cohn and Teddy Thompson, and pedal-steel guitarist Greg Leisz.

Colvin had originally hoped to drop "These 4 Walls" earlier this year, but ultimately decided it would be a better idea to push it back, according to a message she posted at her website this spring.

"Although we are very nearly finished it looks as though the wisest course of action is to release it in September," she wrote. "This will allow for proper set-up time to ensure the best possible chances for its success. "

About a month after "These 4 Walls" hits the shelves, Colvin will set out on a round of fall tour dates that are booked into clubs and theaters throughout the country. Things get underway Oct. 11 in Baltimore, and are currently scheduled to end with a Nov. 14 performance in New York City. She also has a one-off show in the Big Apple scheduled for early next month. Colvin has earned three Grammy over the course of her career, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her 1995 hit "Sunny Came Home."
