Sheryl Crow extends run into fall

Sheryl Crow has extended her sporadic summer run with a swing through West Coast markets this fall.

The singer/songwriter's current schedule, which kicks off this weekend (4/25-26) with two Hawaiian stops, will touch down in 12 cities throughout North America into the fall, with a wrap-up performance slated for Sept. 5 at Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival. The full itinerary is below.

Crow, one of many artists who performed at January's "Rock the Vote" show supporting Obama's inauguration, is hitting the road behind her latest album, last February's "Detours," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200. The pop rocker reconnected with songwriting partner/producer Bill Bottrell, who also co-authored Crow's 1993 chart-topping debut, "Tuesday Night Music Club." Together, they penned "Out of Our Heads," the latest album's third single.

Known for speaking up about environmental and political issues, Crow explained a bit about the track in a message posted at her website.

"We point a finger at the media and the leaders in any camp who incite hatred based on historical feuds. In the song, all parties are gently challenged to reconcile the past and ignore the war-mongers."

Crow spent part of 2008 on the road with activist Laurie David, bringing attention to the global warming crisis through presentations, performances and rallies at college campuses nationwide.
