Shooter Jennings previews 'The Wolf'

Country rocker Shooter Jennings is getting ready for the October release of his third studio album and, in the meantime, is previewing new material during a major tour of US clubs and theaters.

Jennings and his band, the 357's, will co-headline with Dickey Betts and Great Southern tomorrow night (8/8) in Albany, NY, then will mix some headlining dates with a few opening slots for Montgomery Gentry throughout the rest of the month. Jennings is set to headline venues throughout the East and Midwest in September and October. Details are listed below.

The performer's upcoming set, "The Wolf," is scheduled to hit shelves Oct. 23. Jennings wrote nine of the 13 tracks on the album, giving fans an introspective look at his personal struggles and triumphs, according to a blog at his MySpace page. One track on the record, "Slow Train," features guest vocals by The Oak Ridge Boys.

"The Wolf" follows two releases from last year: "Electric Rodeo," which reached No. 64 on The Billboard 200, and "Live at Irving Plaza 4.18.06."

Jennings is the only son of late country legend Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. Shooter portrayed his father in the critically acclaimed Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" in 2005.
