Simple Plan launches new album with short US run
Canadian pop outfit Simple Plan has booked a short US trek to promote its new self-titled album, which is due next week.
The "North American Fan Appreciation" tour, which launches Feb. 25 in New York City, will roll through intimate, club-sized venues in Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago and Hartford, CT. Details are listed below.
Following US dates and promotional appearances on a variety of music networks and television talk shows, Simple Plan will head overseas for a month-long trek across Europe. Those dates can be found at the band's website.
"Simple Plan," the Montreal quintet's third studio album, is due Feb. 12. It has already spawned the hit single "When I'm Gone," and the follow-up, "Your Love is a Lie," is set to impact Hot AC and CHR/Top 40 radio later this month, according to a press release.
The bandmates pushed the envelope with the new material, incorporating some inventive sonic approaches with the help of producers Nate "Danja" Hills (Timbaland, Justin Timberlake), Max Martin (James Blunt, Kelly Clarkson) and Dave Fortman (Evanescence, Mudvayne).
"We took a lot of chances," drummer/songwriter Chuck Comeau told LiveDaily in a recent interview. "I think that was the whole point--to give ourselves the time and also the freedom to try new things, to try to shake things up, to try not to do the same record over and over again."
The full album is currently being previewed at MTV's The Leak website.
The new record is Simple Plan's fourth overall, following 2002's double-platinum debut, "No Pads, No Helmets ... Just Balls," 2004's platinum-certified follow-up "Still Not Getting Any" and 2005's "MTV Hard Rock Live."
