Sparklehorse readies first full US tour in five years
Indie-rock/country hybrid Sparklehorse , still backing last year's "Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain," will launch a month-long headlining tour in February.
The band--essentially the work of one man, singer/songwriter Mark Linkous--will kick off its trek Feb. 2 in Austin, TX, with 23 dates spread across the following month. The outing will mark the first full-blown US tour by the group in more than five years.
Joining Sparklehorse on the trek will be singer/songwriter Jesse Sykes and her backing band, The Sweet Hereafter, who are supporting "Like, Love, Lust & The Open Halls of the Soul," their third full-length release. The album is slated to hit stores Feb. 6.
Released last September, "Dreamt for Light Years ..." is Sparklehorse's fourth studio album, and follows 2001's "It's a Wonderful Life."
The album includes contributions from Danger Mouse, Steven Drozd from The Flaming Lips and a previously unreleased track with Tom Waits.
