Spinal Tap is 'Back From The Dead'

The creative forces behind "This is Spinal Tap " are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the cult classic film with the release of a new CD/DVD entitled "Back From The Dead," which is scheduled to hit the streets June 16, according to a press release.

The new collection features "long-self-suppressed" studio versions of songs from the movie as well as six new tunes. The DVD features "exclusive" track-by-track video commentary by band members David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer).

The CD/DVD also will be packaged with a pop-up diorama that unveils three 12-inch action figures of the band along with a proportionally sized Stonehenge. "'Back From The Dead' is destined to be a collector's item, especially among collectors," the band said in a statement.

"The studio versions of these songs on this album represent the cosmic maturation of the material, within a digital context," Smalls stated. "Also, they're louder."

Spinal Tap is offering fans a free download of the previously unreleased "Saucy Jack" at the band's website. The group also hints that there will be exclusive versions of the songs "Sex Farm" and "(Listen to the) Flower People" available via certain digital outlets. The band also will be releasing a "very special 11-inch," limited edition vinyl version of the album.
