Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer--known collectively as the principal figures behind Spinal Tap [ tickets ]--will go wigless on concert stages this spring.

The three actors/directors/comedians will head out on the road for their first-ever "Unwigged & Unplugged" tour, performing music from Spinal Tap's back catalog, as well as tunes from the trio's 2003 folk-music send-up, "A Mighty Wind," along with a few "special surprises and rarities thrown in," according to a press release.

The outing gets underway April 17 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and will hit 29 cities over six weeks, concluding May 31 in Milwaukee, WI. Details are included below.

"With this being the 25th Anniversary of the film 'This is Spinal Tap,' we thought this would be fun and, at the same time, a little challenging, as we have never performed as ourselves," the trio explained in a press statement. "Think of the evening as three old friends jamming in your living room. As opposed to OUR living rooms; we won't be home."

After creating and starring in 1984's genre-defining heavy-metal parody "Tap"--which is ranked No. 29 on the American Film Institute's "100 Funniest Films of All Time" list--the three comics reunited with "A Mighty Wind," starring as fictional folk music trio The Folksmen.

"The three of us make each other laugh and that's why we continue to do this," the three comics added. "Why work with somebody who is going to bore you to death? If you have a choice about things like that, no one's going to choose the guy that puts you to sleep."
