Tokyo Police Club and El-P round out the current list of performers--each act will play a 20-40 minute set--for the award show. The event's organizers plan to announce additional performers at a later date.
Comedian David Cross ("Mr. Show," "Arrested Development") will host the show, which will be webcast live on Internet television channel ManiaTV.
Besides the performers, all of whom are nominated for at least one Plug Award, 2007 nominees include Animal Collective, M. Ward, Joanna Newsom, Band of Horses, Cat Power and others. The full list of nominees can be found at the event's website.
According to a press release, " Plug Awards [ tickets ] are about the independent music community coming together to recognize their own. This includes everyone from writers, DJs, websites, bloggers, artists, filmmakers, managers, indie retailers, and most importantly fans--who gather together each year to celebrate the artists who live and flourish in the margins.
"Plug is about the artists who inspire and the music that disrupts the artistic and corporate mediocrity and inertia that dominates our culture. The film industry has Sundance, the music industry has Plug."
