This three-piece dabbles in all corners of rock history--reviving psychedelic, hazy daydream melodies, sparking folk-spirited drum circle trances, powering up synths and drum machines for catchy '00s indie-minded choruses and revving up guitars with '70s gutsy macho-ism and falsetto rock-god vocal prowess. What could seem like an identity crisis actually ends up being a well-woven pattern of experimental sounds and textures. Making all this actually work is the unbridled confidence with which Portugal.
