SXSW Performer: Sara Bareilles (Los Angeles, CA)

With her big voice, versatile pianist/singer and VH1 darling Sarah Bareilles has garnered comparisons to other songwriter/vocalists such as Norah Jones, Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor. That's OK with her, according to her self-penned bio. "I write mostly on piano and I'm a girl, so lots of people say it's Norah Jones or Fiona Apple. That's fine. I love Norah's subtlety and Fiona's fierce lyrical prowess." Her major-label debut, "Little Voice," which spawned the peppy radio single "Love Song," is "a collection of songs that pretty much mean the world to me," she wrote.

Performing Thursday, March 13, at 12:30 a.m. at The Parish (214B E. Sixth St.).
