SXSW Performer: The Avett Brothers (Concord, NC)

North Carolina-based rock band and "American Songwriter" magazine-cover stars The Avett Brothers will stop by South by Southwest before hopping on the Dave Matthew Band's jaunt. Like Matthews, The Avett Brothers have built up an impressive and loyal fan base with relentless touring. Last year, the band played upward of 150 concerts, showcasing its energetic live shows and eclectic musical style. Its tour itinerary includes stops at the influential Bonnaroo and MerleFest. In late 2008, the Avetts released "The Second Gleam" EP, which debuted at No. 82 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The band has been working with Grammy-winning producer Rick Rubin on the follow-up to its 2007 album "Emotionalism." The Rubin-produced album is expected to hit stores in the summer.

Performing Saturday, March 21, at 11 p.m. at Stubb's, 801 Red River St.
