SXSW Performer: The Wildhearts (Newcastle, England)

The Wildhearts lead singer Ginger is reigniting his band's flame. After an extended hiatus as Ginger pursued a solo career, the band is doing one-off dates in the US to preview its forthcoming, self-titled comeback album, due in stores in April. (Its last proper studio album was 2003's "Must Be Destroyed.") According to The Wildhearts' official website, the sound hearkens back to "Earth ws. The Wildhearts," their debut full-length album. The Wildhearts wear their influences on their sleeve, boasting sounds that conjure Sepultura, Metallica, The Beatles and Rolling Stones. On the B-side "29 X the Pain," Ginger namechecks other influences such as Queen, Husker Du, The Ramones and the Sex Pistols. Christina Fuoco-Karasinski

Performing 1 a.m. Sunday, March 17, Dirty Dog Bar, 505 E. Sixth St.
