Tantric tours through summer
Rockers Tantric , who regrouped and returned to the road earlier this year, have set out on a coast-to-coast summer jaunt.
The tour continues tonight (7/25) in Syracuse, NY, and is set to stop by a host of clubs, theaters and radio festivals through late September. Fosterchild and Vayden are serving as special guests on the outing, which is detailed below.
Tantric recently returned to the business of rocking with a new lineup, a new label and a new album titled "The End Begins." The set, released in April, debuted at No. 91 on The Billboard 200 and has spawned the Top 10 mainstream rock track "Down and Out." The tune is streaming at Tantric's MySpace page.
The Louisville, KY-based group formed in the late '90s and earned a gold record for its self-titled debut, but fell apart after releasing its 2004 sophomore album, "After We Go." Most of the original members (three of which came from rock act Days of the New) flew the coop, leaving singer Hugo Ferreira to put together a new band.
Along with Ferreira, the current lineup comprises former Fuel drummer Kevin Miller, guitarist Joe Pessia and bassist Erik Leonhardt, along with the unusual addition of classically trained violinist Marcus Ratzenboeck.
Ferreira recently told Tennessee newspaper The Leaf-Chronicle that Tantric is playing material from all three of its records on tour.
The band is best known for its No. 1 rock single, "Breakdown," from its 2001 self-titled debut.
