The Fray plots 2009 shows behind new album

Alt-rockers The Fray have lined up a headlining outing for early next year as the band supports its forthcoming second studio album.

The Colorado-based group kicks off the tour Jan. 6 in its hometown of Denver, with nine shows currently scheduled through early February. Dates are below.

The band's self-titled sophomore set is due in stores Feb. 3. The group will unveil a one-minute snippet of the album's first single, "You Found Me," on a commercial break during Thursday night's (11/20) episode of "Grey's Anatomy," a program that has featured the band's music several times in the past.

"It's funny how fickle and sometimes interesting the public changes their perceptions of things--what is cool, and then isn't cool anymore, and then all of a sudden is cool," guitarist Dave Welsh told LiveDaily last summer. "Like, TV's cool again--weird. Being a band on TV is cool. I hardly think that Green Day, 10 years ago, would have done a TV spot. Nowadays, it's like, who wouldn't? It's weird to see the evolution of it."

The album follows the group's 2005 debut, "How to Save a Life," which was the best-selling digital record since SoundScan began tracking digital albums, according to a statement.
