The Presets, Cut Copy announce joint tour

Indie electro-pop outfits The Presets and Cut Copy will launch a North American co-headlining tour this fall, with both groups supporting recent studio releases.

The pair of Australian acts (both record for Aussie label Modular) will kick off the run Sept. 13 near Denver in Morrison, CO, for slots at the two-day Monolith Festival. The 18-city trek will run through the first week of October, with stops along the way in cities including Chicago (9/17), New York City (9/21-22) and San Francisco (10/5).

The Presets--Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes--are touring behind April's "Apocalypso," the follow-up to their 2005 debut, "Beams." The album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Australian charts, has spawned three singles so far: "My People," "This Boy's in Love" and "Talk Like That".

"It's always been just us," Hamilton recently told Rave Magazine of the album's production. "Way back when we first signed to Modular, there was talk of us working with some big overseas producers, whoever the flavor of the month guys were back then, but we really wanted to forge our own production identity and our own sound."

Cut Copy--which features vocalist/guitarist Dan Whitford, bassist/guitarist Tim Hoey and drummer Mitchell Scott--continues to support "In Ghost Colours." Released in April, the band's second studio album also notched a No. 1 ranking on Australia's ARIA album chart.

The trio debuted with 2004's "Bright Like Neon Love."
