Von Bondies team with Auf der Maur, The Donnas during fall tour
The Von Bondies have laid out plans for a two-legged fall tour that will feature Auf der Maur during the first stretch of dates and The Donnas during the other.
Things get started with a two-week string of shows that kicks off in mid-September, during which Auf der Maur--featuring namesake bassist Melissa Auf der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins)--holds down the opening slot.
A month-long break follows before The Von Bondies return to the road with The Donnas in tow for a full contingent of November dates.
Both rounds of shows wrap up in Boston, with the first stop set for Oct. 1 at Axis, and the second scheduled for Nov. 30 at Avalon; the two venues are located side-by-side on Landsdowne Street, a hotspot located directly behind Fenway Park's Green Monster, the famous left-field wall at the Red Sox's ballpark.
The Von Bondies continue to tour behind their major-label debut, "Pawn Shoppe Heart," which surfaced in March. The band received national publicity last December, when frontman Jason Stollsteimer and The White Stripes' Jack White got into a brawl at a Detroit nightclub. White--who produced The Von Bondies' first full-length, 2001's "Lack of Communication"--later pleaded guilty to an assault-and-battery charge.
Auf der Maur, currently on the road with The Cure's Curiosa tour, issued its debut set in May.
The Donnas' most recent release is 2002's "Spend the Night." The group recently completed work on a follow-up, and a new single/video titled "Fall Behind Me" is expected to surface in September, according to the band's website. A release date for the new album hasn't been announced.
