Cracker maps February acoustic tour

Cracker will set out next month for a stretch of acoustic-only road dates, stripped down to a duo, as the band continues to support its most recent studio album.
The group--pared down to frontman David Lowery and guitarist Johnny Hickman for the upcoming outing--kicks off the trek Feb. 10 in Ashland, VA. Hitting an assortment of coffee houses, pubs and small clubs, the 15-city tour wraps Feb. 28 in Denver. Dates are at right.

Cracker's latest album, "Sunrise in the Land of Milk and Honey," surfaced last spring. The group's 10th studio effort (and first for 429 Records) features guest appearances by Counting Crows' Adam Duritz, Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers, and John Doe of X.
"We weren't kicking back on an island in the Caribbean, waiting for the muse to hit us," Lowery said in the band's bio of the creative process involved in producing the new album. "We got down to work, found the punk and glam rock in our blood and woke up to 'Sunrise in the Land of Milk and Honey.'"
Previews of the album's 11 tracks, plus streaming video of the set's first single, "Turn On Tune In Drop Out With Me," can be found at the 429 website. Cracker's previous studio release is 2006's "Greenland."
