Vampire Weekend anticipates 'Contra' with winter dates
Indie-rock outfit Vampire Weekend will spend a little time on both the East and West Coasts this winter as the band continues touring ahead of "Contra."
The nine-date trek begins with a Dec. 10 performance in Portland, OR, followed by four back-to-back shows throughout California and Washington. After the holidays, the New York-based quartet will return to the stage with a Jan. 12 gig in Los Angeles before taking off to New York City for a three-night run at a trio of venues. The full schedule is shown below.
"Contra," Vampire Weekend's sophomore album, is set for a Jan. 12 release. The forthcoming set contains 10 tracks, according to the band's MySpace page. The first single, "Horchata," is currently available as a free download at the group's website.
The new set will follow the group's eponymous 2008 debut, which sold more than 27,000 copies during its first week and debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
Early last year, Vampire Weekend became the first band ever to be photographed for the cover of Spin Magazine before releasing its debut, according to the publication.
