Van Morrison plots more 'Astral Weeks' shows
With a sporadic summer tour revisiting his 1968 classic "Astral Weeks"in the books, Van Morrison has announced a few additional "Astral Weeks" dates for this fall, along with some regular concert dates.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will kick off the jaunt with a Sept. 25 performance in Las Vegas, followed closely by a theater gig Sept. 29 in Chicago. Stops are also planned in Toronto (9/30), Montreal (10/1) and Waterbury, CT, (10/24) before he wraps things up Oct. 28 in Mashantucket, CT. Details are below, including a notation of the planned "Astral Weeks" performances.
Morrison's most recent release, last year's "Keep It Simple," earned the Irish singer/songwriter the highest debut of his 42-year career with a No. 10 spot on The Billboard 200. The album, his first collection of new material since 2005, marked his 35th studio effort to date.
In February, Morrison released "Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl," which was recorded at the historic Los Angeles venue last fall, nearly 40 years to the day of the classic album's 1968 release. A DVD version of the live performance is available exclusively via Amazon.com.
In June, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that Morrison will be one of 28 entertainers to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.
