Wu-Tang Clan 'Diagrams' US tour
Hip-hop icons Wu-Tang Clan are assembling dates for a major US tour that stretches into 2009.
The trek is currently set to kick off Nov. 29 in Portland, OR, and make its way through 30 cities from coast-to-coast. Major markets include Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New York and Atlanta. Confirmed shows are listed below and more are on the way, according to Wu-Tang Clan's agent.
The groundbreaking rap group continues to support last year's "8 Diagrams," which entered The Billboard 200 at No. 25 and reached No. 4 on the rap album chart. The set marked Wu-Tang Clan's first new studio effort since 2001's Iron Flag, and first since the 2004 death of founding member Ol' Dirty Bastard.
The record features work from Wu-Tang warriors Method Man, Ghostface Killa, GZA, RZA, Raekwon, U-God, Inspecta Deck and Masta Killa. R&B vocalist Erykah Badu also lends a hand on the tune "The Heart Gently Weeps."
Earlier this month, the rap outfit released the concert DVD "Live at Montreux 2007," which was filmed at last year's Montreux Jazz Festival. The set captures a rare gathering of the full Clan--RZA, GZA, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon The Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah and Masta Killa--and also includes Wu-Tang extended family members Cappadonna, Streetlife and DJ Mathematics. It features the group's best-known hits, a number of solo performances and a clutch of Ol' Dirty Bastard tunes.
The hip-hop heroes will be on the small screen next month when the documentary "Wu: The Story of The Wu-Tang Clan" premieres on the BET cable network. The feature is an authorized account of the nine-member group's rise from the Staten Island projects, and includes archival footage and interviews with the surviving members.
BET will air the documentary Nov. 13, five days before it is released on DVD. A soundtrack companion CD featuring Wu-Tang classics and solo material from Raekwon, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Ghostface Killah and Cappadonna will also hit the streets Nov. 18.
