Wyclef lands publisher for memoir

Wyclef Jean 's memoir, which he is writing with bestselling author and Rolling Stone writer Anthony Bozza, will be published by It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, according to a press release.

The book will chronicle Jean's childhood in a tiny village in Haiti and his subsequent immigration to Brooklyn, NY. The memoir examines the Grammy Award-winning artist's life as a preacher's son who struggled to become a young rapper and tried to fit in with his peers. It also will document his success as a founding member of The Fugees and as a solo artist.

Jean's philanthropic work, especially in his native Haiti, also will be one of the subjects of the memoir.

"I am so happy to share my journey which took me from the hut to the projects to the mansion," Jean said in a statement. "I am just getting started and feel so excited about It Books publishing the early stories from my life."
