Yo La Tengo maps out busy start to 2007
Indie rockers Yo La Tengo will embark on a trek through Japan and Australia, and also tackle a slew of domestic dates over the coming months, as the group continues to back its latest release, "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Kick Your Ass."
The longtime indie favorites launch their 2007 touring schedule with a Jan. 25 show in Louisville, KY, and have lined up 14 US dates in clubs and theaters during the first two months of the year.
After dusting off its US obligations, Yo La Tengo will jet across the Pacific Ocean for a series of shows in Japan and Australia during late February and early March. The group's full overseas itinerary is listed on its website.
"I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Kick Your Ass," which hit stores in September, is the band's 12th studio album and first full-length release of new material since 2003's "Summer Sun."
Last year, the group released "Yo La Tengo is Murdering the Classics," which features live performances that the group recorded during its 1996-2003 annual fundraising appearances at New York independent radio station WFMU.
Free downloads of two songs from the new album--"Pass the Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind" and "Beanbag Chair"--are available on the band's website.
