Yo La Tengo readies new album, club tour
Yo La Tengo has rolled out the itinerary for a busy North American tour to follow the release of "Popular Songs," the New Jersey trio's follow-up to 2006's "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass."
The new release was recorded early in the year around the band's hometown stomping grounds of Hoboken, NJ, and in Nashville with producer Roger Mountenot.
The band's label, Matador, is priming the pump for the album's Sept. 8 release with its "Buy Early, Get Now" program, which allows fans who pre-order the album to collect a number of goodies. In this case, buying the CD or vinyl version from a participating retailer during the pre-sale window will earn the buyer a 192k stream of the full album immediately, plus bonus MP3s, a vinyl bonus album of the band's soundtrack to the movie "Adventureland" and a poster. Full info is available at the Matador Records website.
Earlier this month, Yo La Tengo opened for Wilco at one of Wilco's minor-league ballpark shows in Brooklyn, NY, and followed that up a few days later with a set at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago.
