Gospel divas Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary join forces
Grammy-winning gospel artists Yolanda Adams and Mary Mary will headline the nine-city Divas of Gospel tour, which kicks off next week in Denver.
The outing--which also features guest artists Tye Tribbett, G.A., and Dottie Peoples on select dates--will hit a handful of cities across the US into June. The itinerary is listed below, and details about which acts will appear at each concert are available at the Divas of Gospel website.
The tour is affiliated with African-American churches, but most of the shows will take place in non-church facilities.
Chrysler is presenting the trek, and will display its vehicles outside concert venues during the performances.
Adams continues to support her 2005 release, "Day by Day," which fuses her spiritual message with contemporary urban music. The former school teacher also finds time for her Voice of an Angel Foundation, which focuses on mentoring high school students to help them find a career in education.
After a three-year break to focus on motherhood, platinum-selling sisters Erica and Tina Campbell, a.k.a. Mary Mary, returned in 2005 with a self-titled album that incorporates a myriad of sounds including gospel, big band and house music. The set, led by the single "Heaven," debuted at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
