Australian hard-rock trio Wolfmother will back its self-titled debut during a late-summer/early fall run through the US.
The bulk of the group's schedule is set in September, and features a mix of headlining club and theater shows alongside a number of festival appearances, including a lone foray into Canada for the Sept. 10 Virgin Festival. Three August festival performances are also in the pipeline. Details are included below.
The upcoming trek marks Wolfmother's return to the US following a spring headlining run that wrapped up in mid-June. That outing included a May stop at the Palms Resort in Las Vegas, where the group filmed a performance that is now available exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store. The footage includes an interview with the band, according to an email blast from the group.
Released in the states in May, "Wolfmother" was produced by D. Sardy (Oasis, Dandy Warhols), and is certified double-platinum (210,000 units sold) in the group's native country, where it hit stores last fall. The disc was voted "Album of the Year" by Australia's alternative radio network, Triple J.
Wolfmother--Andrew Stockdale (guitar/vocals), Chris Ross (bass/keyboards) and Myles Heskett (drums)--came together in 2000 and spent several years together "jamming in anonymity," according to their online bio, before playing their first shows before an audience in 2004. The group issued a self-titled EP that same year, and followed it up with this year's US-only EP "Dimensions."
Fans can catch Wolfmother on television Tuesday (8/1) night, when the band will appear as the musical guest on both "The Tonight Show" and "Last Call with Carson Daly," according to the group's website. The site features info on how fans in the L.A. area can attend the "Last Call" performance for free.
