British trio Keane , which last week announced that frontman Tom Chaplin had been diagnosed with exhaustion, has since revealed that the singer has entered a rehab clinic.
"I've been having to deal with an increasing problem with drink and drugs, and the time has come to get the professional help I need to sort myself out," Chaplin said in a message posted Tuesday (8/22) at the group's website. "I feel desperately disappointed to be letting down our fans, but I want to get myself right now so that I can be back on the road for the rest of the year."
As a result of Chaplin's stint in rehab, Keane has postponed a string of North American shows scheduled for next month, as outlined below. Make-up dates will be posted "in the next few days," according to the group's website.
At press time, a handful of previously announced October North American shows were still intact.
Keane had been gearing up to hit the road behind its recently released sophomore album, "Under the Iron Sea," which surfaced in June. The new disc--which follows the group's 2004 debut, "Hopes and Fears"--entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 4.
"Crystal Ball," the latest single from "Under the Iron Sea," is streaming at Keane's MySpace.com website.
