Indie rockers Yo La Tengo have lined up a month's worth of concert dates as they look to back their upcoming album, "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Kick Your Ass."
The perpetual college-radio favorites, who are currently marking the 20th anniversary of their 1986 debut album, "Ride the Tiger," will kick off their tour Sept. 25 in New Haven, CT. Fellow indie rockers Why? will offer opening support for all dates on the upcoming outing.
After completing its 17-date North American itinerary, the band will jet across the Atlantic for a lengthy European tour; the group's full overseas itinerary can be found at its website.
"I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Kick Your Ass," due in stores Tuesday (9/12), is the band's 12th studio album and first full-length release of new material since 2003's "Summer Sun."
The band released a live album earlier this year. "Yo La Tengo is Murdering the Classics" consists of live performances recorded between 1996-2003 as the group made annual fundraising appearances at New York independent radio station WFMU.
Two free downloads of songs from the new album, "Pass the Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind," and "Beanbag Chair," are available on the band's website.
