The Charlie Daniels Band's Volunteer Jam will return in April with a lineup that includes--in addition to Daniels and his crew--The Marshall Tucker Band and The Outlaws .
The tour, which started in 1974 as a one-off event in Nashville and expanded in 1999 to become a traveling road show, will kick off April 28 in Valdosta, GA.
Eighteen dates have been confirmed for the tour, with "many other cities to soon be announced," according to a spokesman for Daniels.
The first Volunteer Jam was organized because Daniels wanted to record songs before a large, live audience for his "Fire on the Mountain" album. The Volunteer Jam's 16 runs prior to 1999 were all in the Nashville area.
This year will mark the first edition of Daniels' Volunteer Jam since 2001. That tour featured Daniels with The Dickey Betts Band and .38 Special.
