'Dreamgirls' soundtrack limps to No. 1
The "Dreamgirls" soundtrack managed to climb to No. 1 on the latest Billboard 200 album chart with sales of just 66,000 copies, the lowest total for a No. 1 album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking retail data in 1991, Billboard reports.
"Dreamgirls," which is up two notches from last week despite a 36% sales decrease from the previous week, tops Akon 's "Konvicted," which holds steady at No. 2 with sales of 64,000 copies. Daughtry's self-titled debut, which sold 56,000 copies, climbs from No. 11 to No. 3 on the US album chart.
Justin Timberlake 's "FutureSex/LoveSounds" moves up four rungs to No. 4 on sales of 52,000, while the hits compilation "NOW 23" ascends one place to No. 5 with 48,000 copies sold.
Rounding out the Top 5 are the "Hannah Montana " soundtrack, Young Jeezy 's "The Inspiration," Nas ' "Hip-Hop is Dead," The Beatles' "Love" and Omarion's "21."
