Damien Rice set for North America return

Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice , currently preparing for his imminent European tour, will spend the month of April backing his most recent album, "9," on a trek across North America.

The singer will launch his outing April 24 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The schedule includes an April 29 appearance at the Coachella music festival in Indio, CA. Details are included below.

Backing Rice on tour will be the same group that appears on "9": Lisa Hannigan (vocals), Vyvienne Long (cello), Tom Osander (drums, percussion) and Shane Fitzsimons (bass). Recently, Joel Shearer (guitar) and Cora Venus Lunny (Violin/Viola) have also joined the band on stage for some shows.

Released last November, "9" is the Rice's second album, and the follow-up to 2003's "O," which has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide, according to his publicist.

"Rootless Tree," the second of four singles planned for release off of "9," hit the radio early in February. The disc contains a radio edit and a live piano version of "Rootless Tree" from Rice's recent studio session for Los Angeles-area radio station KCRW.
