Details emerge for John Mayer's summer jaunt

John Mayer has nailed down the particulars for his Continuum Summer Tour, which will kick off June 1 in Ridgefield, WA, and hit arenas and amphitheaters all over the US through Aug. 8.

Ben Folds will be the special guest on the entire outing, and buzz artists Rocco Deluca & the Burden, Brett Dennen , and James Morrison with take turns opening. Dates are listed below.

Tickets for the tour will be available to members of Mayer's "Local 83" fan club this Friday (3/16) and the general public will get its shot at tickets beginning March 24.

Meanwhile, Mayer, who recently wrapped his winter trek with a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden, will do a run of Australian dates April 1-12 before kicking off a Canadian jaunt that will take him through May 1. The singer/songwriter/guitarist will be in New Orleans May 5 for a headlining slot at the city's Jazz & Heritage Festival.

In the midst of his summer tour, Mayer is expected to take part in the July 7 Live Earth concert, which aims to bring attention to the climate crisis with a 24-hour music event featuring more than 100 acts playing across all seven continents.

Mayer recently saw a spike in album sales when his platinum-selling September release, "Continuum," scored a pair of Grammy Awards: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for the single "Waiting on the World to Change." During the ceremony, he performed his latest single, "Gravity." A few songs from the blues-infused album are streaming at Mayer's MySpace page.

"Continuum" is Mayer's third studio set and marks his first time as a producer. It is the follow-up to his 2003 solo effort, "Heavier Things," and the John Mayer Trio's 2005 live album, "Try!," on which the singer/guitarist collaborated with drummer Steve Jordan and bassist Pino Palladino.

Mayer has sold more than 9 million albums and won five Grammy awards in his career, according to a press release.
