Pete Yorn maps busy summer behind 'Nightcrawler'

Singer/songwriter Pete Yorn will launch a major tour this summer, mixing in headlining shows, festival appearances and support dates for the Dave Matthews Band and Crowded House .

Yorn, who completed a two-month headlining tour earlier this spring, will kick off his summer with a June 17 appearance at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, TN. His first non-festival appearance will come July 21 in St. Louis.

In early August, Yorn will switch to support mode, opening up for Crowded House beginning Aug. 5 in Boston, and offering support for Matthews and crew on three of their mid-summer shows, kicking off Aug. 20 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Yorn's complete schedule is included below.

Released last August, "Nightcrawler" debuted at No. 50 on The Billboard 200 chart. The set, which follows 2003's "Day I Forgot," features a guest appearance from Dixie Chicks members Martie Maguire and Natalie Maines on the cut "The Man." Yorn--who first met the Dixie Chicks at an after-Grammy party in New York--co-wrote a track, titled "Baby Hold On," on the Dixie Chicks' latest album, "Taking the Long Way."

Yorn is calling "Nightcrawler" "the final installment in a musical trilogy" that began with his 2001 debut, "musicforthemorningafter," and continued on "Day I Forgot," according to Columbia Records.

"The record feels different and it sounds different, but it also feels like a continuation of what I've been doing," Yorn said in a statement. "I feel like it's taking more chances creatively as a whole and at the same time it's just music that I want to make. There are a lot of pop songs on it, but it might not be as pop-y as the last record."

"For Us," the album's first single, has sold more than 20,000 digital copies, according to Yorn's publicist.
