Godsmack has extended its North American tour once again with more US dates and a run of Canadian shows.
The alt-metal rockers, who have been out since May, recently added gigs in California, Nevada, Idaho, Washington, New York and several Canadian provinces. The trek currently wraps Aug. 22 in Syracuse, NY. The itinerary is listed below.
The band continues to support its fourth studio set, "Godsmack IV," which snagged the No. 1 spot on The Billboard 200 when it was released in April 2006. The album has spawned hit singles "Speak," "Shine Down" and "Enemy." It follows Godsmack's 2004 acoustic EP, "The Other Side," and the band's platinum-selling 2003 studio release, "Faceless."
The Boston-based rockers are also busy planning a box set to commemorate their 10-year anniversary. The collection will include Godsmack's four studio albums, an EP and a DVD featuring mini-documentaries about the making of each album, according to Billboard. The magazine said there would also be some live footage, since the group has been taping all of its concerts since 2004.
When Godsmack wraps its current outing, drummer Shannon Larkin, guitarist Tony Rombola and bassist Robbie Merrill plan to launch a side-project with former Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane, Billboard reported. The band, Another Animal, may release a single before summer's end, followed by an album this fall. Larkin made it clear that Another Animal will not affect Godsmack's future.
In the meantime, Godsmack frontman Sully Erna has been making his own headlines lately for his decision to sell his custom chopper on eBay.
"I've decided to part with my beautiful 2003 H&L Custom Chopper that was filmed for the 'Speak' video on MTV," Erna said in a posting at Godsmack's website. "This bike has been featured in several bike magazines and can also be seen in Godsmack's 'Changes' DVD. I am in the process of building a new hotrod so I will use the money towards the building of a 1934 Ford coupe that I am in love with."
As of today (6/29), bids for the chopper are up to $50,200. The auction ends July 4. More information can be found in Erna's ad on eBay.
