Sammy Hagar 'Livin' It Up' with more shows

Sammy Hagar continues to pencil in more dates for his upcoming 60-date tour, which marks the veteran rocker's imminent 60th birthday.

Hagar's US roadwork begins Oct. 19 in Biloxi, MS, and the Red Rocker plans to keep pounding the pavement through a July 12, 2008 finale in St. Louis, a city in which Hagar has a particularly rabid following. So far, shows are confirmed in 20 cities. Details are shown below.

Before hitting the US tour trail in earnest, Hagar and his band, The Wabos, will perform a half-dozen shows at Hagar's Mexican nightclub, the Cabo Wabo Cantina, located in Cabo San Lucas. The multi-night engagement is part of Hagar's annual "Birthday Bash," which he'll cap with a show on his Oct. 13 birthday.

All of the Birthday Bash shows are free, with access regulated by wristbands that are handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. Last year, over 1,500 fans slept on the streets in front of the cantina while waiting for wristbands, according to a press release.

In addition to Hagar and The Wabos, the upcoming tour will feature Mad Anthony Express, featuring Hagar's former Van Halen bandmate, bassist Michael Anthony, along with Hagar's guitarist, Vic Johnson, and percussionist, John Douglas. The trio plans to play a set of covers heavy on early Van Halen material.

Also hitting the stage will be Los Tres Gusanos (Anthony, Hagar and Hagar's drummer, David Lauser), who are expected to play some deep cuts from Hagar's catalog; and The Other Half (Hagar, Anthony, Lauser and Johnson), who will crank out a set of Hagar-era Van Halen tunes.

Hagar and The Wabos continue to back their latest album, last year's "Livin' It Up." Earlier this year, the group issued "Livin' It Up! In St. Louis," a DVD that includes live footage from the group's 2006 performance in that city, plus interviews, tour footage and music videos.

In July, Hagar and The Wabos offered up a new single titled "Open," which is available through Apple's iTunes Music Store.
