Rosanne Cash will cancel her remaining concert appearances this year in order to undergo brain surgery for a "benign condition," her record label announced.
"Rosanne is expected to make a full recovery and will return to the studio to complete the recording of her debut for Manhattan Records," the music label said Tuesday (11/6). "Ms. Cash will also resume her live performance schedule in the spring and will complete a new book to be published by Viking in early 2009."
The statement did not specify the singer/songwriter's precise condition, merely referring to it as a "rare but benign condition." Cash will have the surgery performed at New York Presbyterian Hospital, but the timeframe was not announced.
Cash, the daughter of country/folk icon Johnny Cash, was touring in support of last year's Grammy-nominated "Black Cadillac." She signed with Manhattan earlier this year and was due to enter the studio to record tracks for her debut with the EMI-based label.
"We all wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to having her back in the studio soon," said Manhattan GM Ian Ralfini in the statement.
"Black Cadillac," which hit stores last January, reflects on the passing of her father, mother (Johnny Cash's first wife, Vivian Liberto) and stepmother (June Carter Cash), all within a fifteen-month period.
The album was nominated earlier this year for a Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary Folk category.
