With several new releases currently in circulation to support, singer/songwriter John Prine has mapped out a few road trips on either side of the coming New Year.
The veteran country/folk performer will hit a handful of cities in December, kicking off Dec. 8 in Pittsburgh, PA. The dates include a Dec. 16 appearance in Nashville, TN, with bluegrass crooner Mac Wiseman, with whom Prine released a split LP, "Standard Songs For Average People," in April.
Prine's roadwork continues in January with a pair of shows in New York State, with another two shows--Feb. 8 in Chicago and Feb. 9 in Whitewater, WI--set for February. All dates are listed below.
Prine's latest release, 2005's "Fair and Square," earned him a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. The set was the veteran musician's first album of new material since 1995's "Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings" and marked his debut as a producer.
In October, Prine released a new "Fair and Square" EP through iTunes, featuring four unreleased tracks from the same recording sessions as the 2005 full-length.
In addition to the album with Wiseman (which Prine issued on his own Oh Boy label), a live DVD, "John Prine Live on Soundstage 1980," shipped in March. The disc features an hour of live performances from Prine's 1980 appearance on the PBS music program.
