Award-winning children's group The Wiggles will have kiddies doing the "Romp Bomp a Stop" this spring during its first North American outing of 2008.
The "Pop Go the Wiggles Live!" tour is set to kick off March 21 in Tacoma, WA, and visit US cities from the West Coast to the Midwest, as well as a few Canadian provinces through April 19. Most dates comprise afternoon and evening performances. Details are listed below.
The song-and-dance extravaganza gives pre-schoolers (and their parents) a chance to "Move Like an Emu," and do "The Monkey Dance" and the "Hot Potato" with colorful Wiggle characters Sam, Murray, Jeff and Anthony, along with special guests Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword.
The massively successful Australian outfit tours North America three times a year and performs more than 150 shows annually, according to a statement.
The Wiggles have sold more than 22 million DVDs and upwards of 5 million records worldwide during their 16-year career, according to a press release. The group's October DVD, "The Wiggles - Getting Strong," is its first release in the "Wiggle and Learn!" series as well as its first under a new distribution deal with Warner Home Video.
That DVD also marks the video debut of the new Yellow Wiggle, Sam Moran, who replaced band co-founder Greg Page last year following his retirement due to a health condition that affects balance, speech and coordination. Moran had been a Wiggle understudy for nine years.
During their downtime from touring, The Wiggles are in the studio recording two more albums, according to the Melbourne Herald Sun.
