Ladytron lines up dates behind upcoming album

Electronic pop act Ladytron has lined up an extended tour of the US and Canada to support its latest studio album, "Velocifero."

The multi-national quartet (which was formed in Liverpool, but also boasts members from Scotland and Bulgaria) will kick off the run May 20 in Edmonton, Alberta, the beginning of a brief Canadian stretch on the group's itinerary. The 30-city trek (which includes a June 15 slot on the bill of Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Festival) runs into early summer, with a Fourth of July close in Toronto. All dates are below.

Norwegian dance-punks Datarock , who are backing last year's "See What I Care" LP, will handle opening duties throughout the tour.

Ladytron recorded "Velocifero"--the band's fourth studio album and its follow-up to 2005's "Witching Hour"--in the Paris facility Studio de la Grande Armée, where Duran Duran recorded its iconic '80s breakthrough hit, "Rio."

The group worked with co-producers Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails, Modwheelmood) and Andy Gardiner (Vicarious Bliss) on the set, which is due in stores June 3. The album was completed and mixed in Los Angeles by Michael Patterson (Beck, Diddy).
