Oscar-winning indie duo The Swell Season --better known as Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova--have lined up a spring headlining run behind their eponymous debut album.
Irish singer/songwriter Hansard--who doubles as frontman for Dublin rockers The Frames --and Czech singer/pianist Irglova will hit 25 US cities through late June, kicking off with an April 23 show in Phoenix.
The pair's schedule includes an April 25 slot at the Coachella festival in Indio, CA, and a June 13 appearance at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo. All dates are below.
The duo produced their self-titled debut in 2006, representing Hansard's first release outside of his work with The Frames. The album contains the song "Falling Slowly," featured in the film "Once," in which Hansard and Irglova also starred. Ex-Frames bassist John Carney directed the film.
"Falling Slowly" earned the pair the Oscar for Best Original Song at last month's Academy Awards ceremony, in which Irglova was famously cut off following Hansard's acceptance speech and later personally invited back onstage by host Jon Stewart to give her thanks for the award.
The Frames' most recent album, "The Cost," was released early last year in the US, and follows 2005's "Burn the Maps." The band recorded the set at France's Black Box Studios with its longtime producer (and former lead guitarist), David Odlum, at the helm.
