Lo-fi indie duo The Kills will tackle an American headlining tour beginning later this month to support the band's latest studio effort, "Midnight Boom."
The multi-national act--whose two primaries are American vocalist Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hince--launches the run April 30 in Boston. The 20-city trek runs through most of May and winds to a close late in the month. Dates are below.
The minimalist art-rockers released "Midnight Boom," their third studio album, last month. The follow-up to 2005's "No Wow" and 2003's "Keep on Your Mean Side," the disc hit No. 1 on the UK's indie charts.
The duo recorded the album at a friend's studio in Benton Harbor, MI, with Spank Rock producer Alex Upton assisting with additional production and programming. "He gave us tips on how to make the rhythms more violent and gritty," Hince said in the band's online bio.
The self-produced record clocks in at just over 33 minutes, reflecting the pair's decision to keep things short and punchy, according to Hince. "We wanted to be forward-thinking, less conceptual and to dispense of all influences," he said.
Streaming versions of songs from the CD can be heard at the band's website.
