With a new lineup and a new label, rockers Tantric are back in business and hitting the road to support their third album, "The End Begins."
The group, led by vocalist and sole remaining member Hugo Ferriera, is currently on the West Coast and has US club dates confirmed across the US through June. Tantric also expects to announce a summer headlining jaunt with special guests Vayden, Framing Hanley, Fosterchild, Course of Nature and Signum, according to the band's MySpace page. Confirmed shows are listed below.
Following Tantric's 2004 sophomore release, "After We Go," the band's label deal with Maverick fell apart and its members (most of which came from rock act Days of the New) flew the coop. Though the musicians had completed a new album, they couldn't release it, so Ferriera had to start over from scratch, he told Type 3 Media in a recent interview.
"The previous lineup is gone and that enabled me to bring in people with a whole new perspective," Ferriera said in the group's bio.
The new lineup comprises former Fuel drummer Kevin Miller, guitarist Joe Pessia and bassist/vocalist Erik Leonhardt, along with the unusual addition of classically trained violinist Marcus Ratzenboeck.
Tantric showcases its fresh sound on its Silent Majority Records debut, "The End Begins," which is due April 22. The set finds the band working with producer Toby Wright (Korn, Alice in Chains) once again, and features guest vocals from Candlebox's Kevin Martin. A couple of songs are being previewed at Tantric's MySpace page.
The band broke through with its 2001 self-titled debut, which reached gold status and spawned the No. 1 rock-radio hit "Breakdown."
