Indie rockers Bloc Party have lined up a brief run of US headlining dates surrounding their scheduled appearance at Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival in August.
The British outfit will kick off the outing July 28 in Pomona, CA, and also plans stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Philadelphia, along with two shows in New York City. The band is slotted for an Aug. 1 performance at Lollapalooza, as well as a Sept. 6 appearance at Toronto's V Festival. Details are below.
Bloc Party continues to tour in support of last year's "A Weekend in the City," the band's follow-up to 2005's "Silent Alarm." The more recent of the LPs debuted at No. 12 on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 48,000 copies in the US during its first week out. The album has sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide since its release, according to the group's record label.
The band released a non-album single, "Flux," last November, which peaked at No. 8 on the British charts. The song was included on a special expanded CD/DVD tour edition of "City" that hit UK stores last November.
According to drummer Matt Tong, the band is in the early stages of recording the follow-up to "A Weekend in the City".
"I think our new stuff is going to be a lot less textured than the last record," Tong told Paste Magazine last fall. "I think the third studio incarnation of Bloc is going to be a bit like the rawer earlier Bloc, but with experience."
