Folk/country singer Lucinda Williams has lined up a run of headlining shows this summer around her previously announced support dates for John Mellencamp.
The Grammy-winning performer will kick off the trek with a June 30 headlining show in Apple Valley, MN. After a pair of festival appearances--July 2 at Milwaukee's Summerfest, and July 5 at the Ottawa Blues Festival--Williams will begin her opening duties for Mellencamp with a July 8 show in Philadelphia.
The performer's complete current schedule is included below.
Williams continues to support "West," her eighth studio album, which she co-produced with Hal Wilner (Elvis Costello, Lou Reed), and recorded in Los Angeles. Guest musicians featured on the set, which hit stores early last year, include Bill Frisell, Jim Keltner and Williams' longtime guitarist Doug Petibone.
Streaming previews of four of the new album's songs are available at Williams' website.
"The songs deal with a chapter in my life and they definitely tell a story," Williams said of the disc in a message posted at her website. "It's probably been the most prolific time in my life as a writer. I'd been through so many changes--my mother's death and a very tumultuous relationship that ended badly--so obviously there's a lot of pain and struggling, but it ends with a look towards the future."
