Dolly Parton adds more US dates to 'Backwoods' trek

Dolly Parton has added several new shows to the next US leg of her ongoing tour behind her recent studio effort, 'Backwoods Barbie."

The country/pop legend has mixed in dates in Denver, CO (8/10), Omaha, NE (8/11) and St. Louis, MO (8/14) to the outing, which kicks off Aug. 1 in San Diego.

The singer is currently on a tour of European venues through early July. Those dates can be found at her website, while her complete US schedule is included below.

"Backwoods Barbie" is Parton's first new studio set since 2005's "Those Were the Days," and is billed in a press release as her "first album of mainstream country music in 17 years." Released in late February, the collection features nine originals among its 12 tunes.

The album entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 17, marking Parton's highest debut ever on that list. Additionally, the set peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.

Parton recently contributed vocals to the song "Do You Know" from Jessica Simpson's debut country album, "Sippin' On History," which is due in stores this fall.

"She listened to the album, and she just was encouraging," Simpson said on ABC Radio's nightly "GAC Nights: Live From Nashville" program.

"She goes, 'I have to be a part of this record.' And so she gave me a handful of songs and she said, 'I got better ones. I got better ones!' And then three days later, she sent me 12 more songs, and I chose the very first song that was on the second CD, and it's called, ‘Do You Know.' She wrote it and it's such a great song, and I'm so blessed to be able to sing with her on it and have her be so much a part of my career."
