The Wedding Present eyes fall tour behind 'El Rey'

British indie-rockers The Wedding Present launch a North American headlining tour this fall behind their eighth studio album, "El Rey," which hit stores earlier this year.

The veteran foursome--which currently features a lineup of David Gedge (vocals/guitar), Terry de Castro (bass), Chris McConville (guitar) and Graeme Ramsay (drums), with only founding member Gedge remaining from the band's early days--kicks off the 14-city run Sept. 19 in West Hollywood, CA. The full schedule is included below.

The band has also lined up a number of European shows before and after the US outing; those dates can be found at the group's MySpace page.

"El Rey," the band's latest studio effort, was released in May in both the UK and North America. The Steve Albini-produced album was accompanied by the digital-only single "The Thing I Like Best About Him Is His Girlfriend."

The set follows 2005's "Take Fountain," which in turn was the band's first release since 1996's "Saturnalia."

The Wedding Present was formed in 1985 by Gedge and bass player Keith Gregory, who previously had played together in a band dubbed The Lost Pandas. After releasing six studio albums, the group went on a long hiatus, with Gedge concentrating on a new side project, Cinerama, which featured his then-girlfriend, Sally Murrell. Eventually, Gedge decided to revive The Wedding Present name with the current version of Cinerama during the recording sessions for what would become "Take Fountain."
